You can also consider tossing a terminal client on those 68000-series Macs and then use another *NIX remotely. There's also the free MI/X X client (http://www.microimages.com/), but they've pulled the 68k version from their site and the PPC version now requires OS9. DOH! Maybe you can find a copy online somewhere else -- I poked around and they've also pulled the copy off of their FTP site (sometimes you get lucky and they've just removed the link ;-). I never got around to playing with it, though, and now I might regret it. Happy hunting!
BTW, has anyone here used MI/X with any success? Or any other X client for any flavor of "classic" Mac OS? What's the scoop? No MMU or FPU. Also missing a couple other things I don't remember and don't feel like looking up ;) If you really want to get into the number of Macs, I have about two dozen or more. I actually have a reason to use maybe 6 of them very often :) Ironically, I probably use my Macintosh Classic the most (not counting the servers that get quite good traffic but sit there) as an IRC client and as a telnet console to my servers. System 6 runs great :) -- MaX-list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> MaX-list info: <http://lowendmac.com/linux/max.shtml> Send list messages to: <mailto:max-list@;mail.maclaunch.com> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:max-list-off@;mail.maclaunch.com> For digest mode, email: <mailto:max-list-digest@;mail.maclaunch.com> Subscription questions: <mailto:listmom@;lowendmac.com> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/max-list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
