Hi Pat,
as said, I have made only a basic installation, for learning purposes.
SuSE Linux PowerPC 7.3 comes in 8 CDs and in the included
applications list are, among others:
Mozilla, Netscape 4.7, Konqueror, IRC, ICQ, Instant Messenger
MySQL, PostgreSQL, KOffice 1.1, OpenOffice(experimental)
teTeX, LaTeX, Ghostscript, GIMP, ImageMagick
Broadcast2000, diverse Sound tools
IPv6 is supported, IPX, netatalk, ISDN, Samba,
The desktop environment is KDE 2.2.1 and also GNOME (beta)
The usual editors and administration tools are included.
Mac-On-Linux allows you to run MacOS as a task and then use the
clasic mac programs.
The installation utility YaST is very nice and support several
languages (more than 17)
I find it stable and it works with the G4 Macs up to the 533 MP.
IBM RS600 is also supported.
If you use a Radeon, you must dowload something from the web site.
If you install from a CD-W drive, you must perform first a basic
installation. Then you edit a line in a configuration file and you
can continue installling.
Rgds, Fernando
