Seryozha,

this matches my experience just a few weeks back.  have you spcified the
partition number to boot from?  For the longest time the BootX dialog said
"/sdb"
when it should have said
"/sdb3"
it's a shot in the dark.  that said, here's another shot in the dark. 
debian seems to _hate_ starting up from scsi id 0.  my solution was to
put in a second hard drive instead of adding jumpers.

take two grains of salt with this.  i'm trying to figure out debian on a 7600/g3sonnet.
