As opposed to the ntp daemon? Do you use any options to ntpdate? I'd prefer to keep it relatively in sync all the time rather than just once a day, but I'll take whatever works.

Then run the ntpdate cron job at whatever interval you want to. If you examine the root crontab you'll see an example of this with the atrun line which is run every ten minutes.
