i have a question. i am a PowerBook G4 user and am very interested in learning about Linux. what is the best distribution for me to use as a newbie to Linux, especially when using a Mac. i am merely a beginner, so a simple user friendly distribution is best, but i don't really know what's out there. can someone help me out?

Hi Andrew,
I haven't installed on a Powerbook G4 but the installation I did on a desktop G4 using the Ubuntu distribution (www.ubuntu.com) was remarkably smooth. Compared to other distibutions I have used on powerPC: Yellow Dog, Mandrake, and Gentoo, there was much less tweaking needed to get sound, video etc to work correctly. Certainly for a linux novice, Ubuntu would be a good choice.
