i have a question. i am a PowerBook G4 user and am very interested in learning about Linux. what is the best distribution for me to use as a newbie to Linux, especially when using a Mac.

I think Yellow Dog is the Linux distribution that is the most focused on PPC. If I was to recommend another choice for a beginner, the next would be Mandrake based on the installer and GUI. I would not recommend Debian as a first go on the basis of the install procedure(s).
