I finally managed to get some steps further.
There were several problems:
#define USE_VMALLOC_NOT_MMAP
which is wrong since mmap() on Solaris/SPARC works.
Secondly a missing
#define USE_FIXED_MMAP_ADDRESS 0x0000020000000000UL
since these are only ifdef'ed for 64bit platforms (*sigh*)
Now the database creates traces etc. nicely but:

Maybe there's some "tool" out there to convert those to some readable
format...
