Hello Guenther,

so what is the exact state of the old database, what is left over from it? Can
you start it into mode ADMIN or even ONLINE? Are only the volumes intact?

Best regards,

Subject: Data restore after system crash

Hi listmembers,

one of our customers experienced a system crash (Windows), on which ran SAPDB.
He was able to make a image of the system partition and to rescue the path
c:\programme\sapdb.
We have an own backup functionality in our application, but the problem is, that
the customer forgot to use it the last 6 days ...

He made a new installation on a new server. The problem is, how to restore the
data from the old system into the new database? The easiest way to simply copy
the original indep_data over the new indep_data, don't work because the service
for the DB instance don't start. What's wrong, or what must we do to get back
the data into the system?

I'm new to SAPDB and have only little knowledge of the internals of SAPDB.

Many thanks in advance
Guenter
