Hello Ralf, an raw estimation of the number of pages moved in this operation (from the EXPLAIN command Ralf sent before) tells that there is approx 6GB data accessed (# pages * 8K) . As his system has 1 GB of physical RAM, this will of course blow it up.
If (at the end) he is interested only in a small amount of these aggregated data (e.g. that data for one IPADDRESS) it makes sense to do this as a single query or defining an appropriate view for making this final query. If there is need for all the data in the table you create, you should increase CACHE_SIZE, but cannot really on this machine, as it does not help if the CACHE_SIZE is larger than the physical RAM available. In that case, u nfortunately, you should go first and buy some RAM (although with the 3GB limit on 32 bit Windows you will be still possible have not enough at the end).
