I think I've decided to do just that, only I'll still use the plist. 
Thanks for the suggestion. I think the term RS uses "SharedDocuments" 
is confusing, because the user never references this area as 
"Documents". It just seems like an "area". "Documents" has it's own 
folder. On Windows it is the Documents area, but I use the Registry there.

Another thing that confused me is the the /Users/Shared folder seems 
really underused. On my loaded up Mac, there was hardly anything 
there. I guess everyone used the System area. I bet that will all will change.

And I used the "auto-transfer" technique too, now it's entirely 
invisible (I hope).

I took the time to entirely divest myself of the System area. I get 
the message: I'm not the System. =)
