Well, I think that is not easy.
We may have classes with various helper functions, but not all things work 
together directly.

For Windows please review the example project "USB Stick to Drive Letter".
For Mac check the DADiskMBS class. It may help to check where a disk came from.

CarbonApplicationEventsMBS VolumeMounted event tells you when disk arrived.
or NSWorkspaceMBS NSWorkspaceDidMountNotification.
