In Debian I use a replacement uzip vfs rewritten in perl by Oskar
Liljeblad, which doesn't have any of the problems mentioned here.

Oskar is willing to hand over copyright to the FSF, so it can be
included into the main mc, there was a short discussion in the list,
but since then, I did not hear anything about this.

What is the status on this? I really think his version is much better
and cleaner than the current sh/sed/whatsnot code.
