The New Museum Of Contemporary Art seeks an experienced DBA to maintain and develop the museum database systems. The DBA will provide leadership and strategic planning for current and future database systems, manage the membership database, ticketing database, maintain the integrity and reliability of data, train staff on best practices, research and improve current practices, and provide reports on museum visitation trends, revenue streams.
Working hours will be 40 hours/week, 10:00 - 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, (flexible schedule a possibility) The position reports to the Information Technology Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES . Administer and maintain the entire operation of the Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge system and Vista by Ticketmaster include but not limited to data integrity and user security, creation and maintenance of codes and system tables, and records clean-up and de-duplication. . Continually assess, implement, improve and the short-term and long-term data connectivity, integration, workflow, and access across multiple departments and databases via ODBC connection and/or manual data import/export protocols, to accommodate the changing needs and new initiatives of the institution, while maintaining data continuity for historical analysis. . Produces and supports the production of standard and custom reports in Raiser's Edge and Vista via data manipulation. Oversee reporting and detailed trend analysis of museum visitation, and revenue from Admissions, Public Programs, Group Tours, Membership sales, Store Sales, Caf? Sales, and Space Rentals. . Trouble-shoot database functionality and technical issues for database users. Liaison with various database/software vendors for database enhancement, trouble-shooting, and administer and evaluate database upgrade and updates. . Oversee the business process of membership fulfillment. Maintain ticket and membership card scanning at the Admissions to streamline member access to the Museum and for audit control purposes . Assist Finance, Development, Specials Events, and Visitor Service Department on audits and troubleshooting accounting discrepancies. . Provide training to end users. Maintain and update comprehensive documentations and manuals on proper database usage and data entry procedures. . Monitor and improve the methods of data collection, overall usability and data accuracy of databases. . Research on long-term database improvement strategies and solutions. Provide recommendations to Management on how to improve database overall reliability and efficiency for database users. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS . Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree and/or 3-5 years experience with working knowledge of relational database architecture, in report development and database administration & integration from a complex database environment, preferably in a museum setting with accounting, fundraising, membership, visitors services and retail operation knowledge. . Highly analytical with strong decision-making ability. Ability to handle confidential materials with discretion. Proven project and process management experience. Detail oriented, organized, and work successfully under pressure, with an ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. . Capability to master new software applications and database technologies. Strong aptitude for diagnosing end user problems, identifying and implementing solutions. . Provide timely response to requests for information, service, and assistance. Ability to effectively communicate with users of diverse backgrounds and skills levels. Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team. TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS . In-depth Knowledge of the MS-SQL and the ms-stack a must. . Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, Experience with Ticketmaster Vista, Counterpoint, Sage MIP, highly desirable. . Experience with .NET development a plus. . Experience with MySQL a plus.
