EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
 
Aanischaaukamikw
is the cultural centre for the nine Cree communities of Eeyou Istchee in
Northern Quebec. This major new facility is located in Oujé-Bougoumou, QC, a
community of 700 persons. Aanischaaukamikw is a multi-purpose cultural entity,
bringing together regional cultural programming for the Cree Nation for all to
share on-site and throughout the communities. Aanischaaukamikw is presently
seeking a:
 
 
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ADMINISTRATOR
Date of Posting: November 17, 2014
 
 
The
Information Technology Administrator is a full-time, permanent position that 
reports
directly to the Executive Director and/or the Assistant Executive Director and
is responsible for maintaining and installing computer hardware, software and
networks for all staff at Aanischaaukamikw. He/she is also responsible for
staff training, consultation, and recommending about future planning and
development of technology services and resources. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 
·        Holds a diploma of college studies in computer science technology, a
diploma or an attestation/certificate of studies recognized by the competent
authority
·        Relevant and practical experience in the management and maintenance of
computers
·        Good decision making, analytical and problem solving skills
·        Excellent team work building skills
·        Good stress and time management skills
·        Knowledge and experience with Cree communities and entities is an asset
·        Excellent communication skills, both written and for presentation, as 
well
as good public speaking abilities
·        Ability to communicate in both of Canada’s official languages, 
knowledge
of Cree is an asset
·        Available to travel and be greatly autonomous
 
 
 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 
·        Ensures that Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute’s technology is
accessible and equipped with appropriately current hardware and software, while
being familiar with the equipment and the operating system
·        Tests, modifies and upgrades the hardware, software and network
operating system to ensure they are compatible with existing systems and they
meet the needs of the users
·        Provides advice, assistance, training and orientation to all staff upon
request with current information technology and also provides recommendations
about accessing information and support
·        Manages, installs and configures system components and oversees the
installation of components according to the procedures and standards
established by Aanischaaukamikw
·        Maintains current and accurate inventory of technology hardware,
software and resources; particularly for planning and to help manage the
related service agreements
·        Monitors and maintains technology to ensure maximum access
·        Oversees the application of various procedures related to the use of 
the
networks and equipment, particularly those concerning backup copies, deletion
of obsolete files and equipment maintenance as well as the maintenance of local
network user accounts in accordance with the Personnel Policy on the use of
computers, Internet and e-mail in place at Aanischaaukamikw
·        Formulates suggestions and proposes recommendations concerning the
purchase of computer equipment in accordance to the standards of
Aanischaaukamikw and also maintains an updated list of required repairs and
maintenance
·        Administers Information Security Policy and reports non-compliance to
the appropriate supervisor and monitors security of all ACCI technology in a
confidential manner
·        Maintains an updated inventory list of computer equipment, user names,
e-mail addresses, passwords etc..
·        Provides a monthly report of activities to the Management Committee 
·        Performs other related duties as may be assigned from time to time
 
 
SALARY AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
 
·        Full-time permanent position, 35 hours a week; 70 hours bi-weekly;
·        Generous benefits including subsidised local housing, relocation
packages, and above average leave allocations are provided;
·        Salary commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
