We have a bit of experience with this bewildering delema. One neat thing we did is to have our database keep a record of the off line original high res files. As well as some routine to manage the low res on-line images. Basically our system tell the user were the original image file lives when they look at a catalog record. It does this for over 100,000 high res image. Our nameimg schema helps as well, the file name is based on the catalog name. This system works very well for us, however I know that some people are using the CIMI Dublin Core for a finding aid to digitized images.
I hope this helps Peter ******************************************** Peter Siegel Director of Digital Imaging American Museum of Natural History Department Anthropology Central Park West @ 79 street New York NY 10024-5192 USA 1(212) 769-5665 Fax 212 769-5334 Email p...@amnh.org Pager 1-917-252-9881 Pager email 9172522000.0230...@pagenet.net
