At the Magnes Museum, a Jewish cultural history & art museum, the digital project (me) is under the purview of the Collection Manager. She reports to the Chief Curator. The web development side is housed in marketing, although I suspect that the collections website will ultimately be under my jurisdiction.

We are trying to determine if content-producing areas (sometimes called Digital Projects/Initiatives, Online Access, etc.) are typically housed within the IT department, collection/curatorial department, or elsewhere. Are there any institutions that have content-based web departments outside of IT? Your help is greatly appreciated!
