Hello everyone! Join us tonight for an interactive discussion.
*Tonight - LIVE at 7PM EST * *Considering Duration.* *About this Event.* An exploration and discussion of the long-take in cinema. Filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky’s assertion that to work with film is to sculpt time - that film is ultimately a medium of time - carries resonance across the works of many artists and filmmakers whose work resists fast-cutting and rapid montage in favor of a slower, durational experience of cinematic time. In Considering Duration, we’ll ask - what can a long-take on film provide or reveal that heavily edited scenes cannot? What brings an artist or filmmaker to end a shot at a certain moment? How does a static or dynamic frame change our perception of time and indeed the long-take? In service of these questions and more, we will view and discuss excerpted works by Chantal Akerman, Alfonso Cuarón, Andy Warhol as well as Tarkovsky himself. *>>> As always, tickets are FREE and open to ALL. Please feel free to share. * https://www.eventbrite.com/e/considering-art-considering-duration-registration-140932353463?aff=erelpanelorg Looking forward to some facetime with you at 7PM EST.
