The filtering of "sourrounding chars" dosn't work if further chars
follow, ie. <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, in this lists signature doesn't omit
the trailing angle bracket, while <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> works fine.
This also applies to quotation marks, "[EMAIL PROTECTED]".
("stolen" from the Miami(DX) mailinglists signature ;) vs.
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" and URLs, "http://test.url/", vs.
"http://test.url/" and (http://test.url/): vs. (http://test.url/) etc.
The latter example also includes the : in the URL, ie. yet some more
room for improoved scanning.
