I have seen this software in action and it's real. It's also
expensive. It's intended for commercial applications (radio stations
and the like).

I have not seen this software, but I know it's real. The idea is this:

1) Record tracks onto an MD, sequentially. DO NOT EDIT THEM!

2) Run special "FTS" software on PC with MDH-10 connected which allows
you to combine any favorite set of original tracks into a single
   "Favorite Track".

3) You can make several (many!) "Favorite" tracks on the disc, but they all
reference the same underlying audio data.

4) By repeatedly using the same underlying tracks, you can end up
with a set of "Favorite" tracks that give a total play time
   far exceeding the disc's capacity.

5) With several of these "Favorite" tracks on the disc the total
playing time can be huge (max of 80 minutes * 255 == 20,400
   minutes, stereo!).

6) Note that the actual capacity of the disc is not increased, only
   the total play time.

7) In reality it's a hack for having several different program
plays for the same underlying audio, all stored on the same disc.

8) This would be useful if discs had 4x (or more) their current
capacity, but isn't very useful when all you have is 80 minutes to
   play with.
