I don't think the R90 motor noise comes from running it at high speed,
I think it comes from ramping up the speed reeeaaaally slooowwwly with
some kind of pulsed current that ends up making a racket.

Didn't the R90 and all others back to the MZ-R3?

The button I think is still there (I can make out a label on the photo
of the case that's about the right size and shape to be END SEARCH),
but whether you always have to push it remains to be seen. I'm trying
to read between the lines of the letter Sony sent back ... but I can't
tell yet.

Does anyone else think that "MZ-R900" is a hell of a high model
number? How about MZ-R100, or MZ-R190 or something? Maybe we really
will be into the 4 digit numbers in a year or two.
