At the moment I am using a couple of Akai Hi-Fi microphones through a Berringer
Pre-Amp and into the back of a Sony JE930 minidisc to record my blues band
(portability is not an issue when you have an instrument amp and an entire PA
kit to take with you). The results have been so good that many people think it's
a live CD recorded professionally at the gig. It is hard to believe the results
were obtained with just 2 mics. One thing you will notice is that 2 mono mics
sound much better than a tiny stereo mic. The little sony mics are good for MD
in respect of portability, but larger mics tend to give better response and the
sound seems to have more depth.
