Yes, you can connect a minidisc recorder's digital optical input to a PC
soundcard. A couple of the least expensive soundcards that have digital
optical input and output (Toslink) are from Hoontech (about $50 US) and
Xitel (about $75 US). You can find out more about them at
http://www.hoontech.com and http://www.xitel.com.
I use the Hoontech Yamaha XG card and have been very happy with it.
