My Japanese-built MDS-JE500 has developed the turn-on bug. So far it has happened only when a partially ejected disc is still sticking out of the slot, and unlike the Malaysian-assembled MDS-JE510's, it took over 3 1/2 years for the bug to show up. (With a 510. you were lucky if you didn't have the bug 3 1/2 months after buying it or 3 1/2 weeks after having it fixed.
