I'm pretty much a lurker on this list. I'm relatively new to MD, but getting to be older all the time. I've now got 2 portable recorders, one portable player and a home deck. I'm on another list that takes care of spam very easily. On that list members are expected to keep any commercial referring posts to one per MONTH. That way anyone who has a commercial interest still has an opportunity to post regarding their products. This does however keep the list on topic and keeps it from being a commercial enterprise advertising target. On this list I'm a digest subscriber. I don't wish to sub as a "by post" sub and sort messages, though I'm fully capable of doing so. This is a work around for a situation that just shouldn't exist in my opinion. The list is for discussion of minidisc. That doesn't extend to discussion of every latest good deal on minidisc equipment and supplies on a day to day basis. I would propose that the list adopt the once per month posting of advertising related material by any individual. Additionally, if there is a compelling desire for knowing when/where deals on MD are -- then let's set up a separate list called MINIDISC DEALS, and anyone interested in getting in on the daily deals can sub to that list. That way if the demand for knowing that level of information is there, then members on this list can subscribe. If they don't subscribe, you then really do know that not that many people give a rat's arse about reading this stuff every time someone finds a little deal or coupon. Oh, and yes we had to kick only one person off the list for doing what I mentioned. Others got warned and stopped their spam activity or limited it. It works. Now, how about setting a standard and getting back to discussion of minidisc? -- Gary Warren "I take my woman on the beach, fellas, and set down in the sand and play."
