Well, I think the new portable MP3 CD players and the ones for the car are
going to dominate the portable music market! I have 3 portable MDs and they
just did not catch on with my kids. They now want portable MP3 CD players
(my daughter's birthday is Wednesday and I have hers sitting here waiting
while her MD player/recorder collects dust).

I have an MP3 car stereo with a CD changer and I love it! But when we got my
son a new car I gave him the option of a Sony Xplod MD (like what I have) or
a 45W per channel MP3 CD player, he opted for the MP3 CD player! I have to
admit that it sounds nice and having 10 hours of music on a single CD is
really nice...

As much as I love my MDs, I think the reality is that this new technology
(MP3 CDs) is gonna put the final nail in the coffin. I know many will argue
about the re-recodability, the smaller size, the ease or portability, but
for many the convenience of an MP3 CD player and the length of the music it
can play will far outweigh those arguments...

Take care...
