I'm not registered with Meditech L; therefore you may forward this
response:
We currently have two "short stay" units. Our 23 hour Observation unit is
used for post Same Day Surgery patients who require an extended recovery
period less than 24 hours. It is a part of the Same Day Surgery unit and
is
staff by that Nursing area. They are only operational Monday through
Friday. This unit will accommodate late add-on Outpatient surgical cases
as well as some Radiology observation pt's as needed. Occasionally when
census is high, they will take admissions or keep an OP surgical patient
who
requires admission.
We also have an RDC unit (Rapid Diagnostic Center) that is located close
to
the Emergency Department that is staffed 24/7 to accommodate mostly
cardiac
patients that require monitoring before a determination to admit. This
helps the flow in the ED and has helped to curtail unnecessary admissions.
