I have written a NPR report to capture if a pt needs pharmacy orders
acknowledged, and I have attached an attribute to a CDS that will
default the answer based on that NPR report. Problem I have now is how
to get the query evaluated frequently enough to make this useful. The
status board only displays the latest saved response (as far as I know).
I really need the query re-evaluated every time the status board
refreshes to be accurate, or else attach it to some CDS that gets
updated every few minutes.

Any ideas how to pull this off?

Roger

Wow-I wish I could help you with that one. If it does not work, you
could give them access to order acknowledgments by location. That will
allow them to see if any of their patients are on the list, by pulling
up their location and pulling up meds that require acknowledgement.

Yes - I want the display on the status board to vary based on whether or
not a pt has an pharmacy order that needs to be acknowledged. I know
that this can be done as a standard function on the status board, but
nursing does not want to have to acknowledge twice (status board and
eMAR). I want to disable the pharmacy order acknowledgement on the
status board, but still be able to notify the nurse if new pha orders
need to be acknowledged.

I am sure it is going to require a call to a maco. A list of pharmacy
orders will have to be created for that patient and each order checked
for pha.rx.nur.ack.required =1. Then based on that result, change the
default of the query.

Hi Roger,

What do you want as the end result? Do you want some type of
notification that they have meds that need to be acknowledged?

Tara

I never use queries and attributes, but I want to create a query that
displays @PHA.RX.nur.ack.required on the nursing status board as part of
our eMAR development. I thought about just using a DFT attribute to
display "eMAR ACK" or some sort of message (whatever nursing wants) when
a new order needs acknowledging for a patient in eMAR
(PHA.RX.nur.ack.required = 1). Question is - how well do NUR and PHA
play together? Since the query will be kicked off from NUR, how do I
get the PHA.RX field to have a value? I should have access to
ADM.PAT.urn which is the same as PHA.RX.patient. But is it that simple?
Do I have to change applications and use a macro etc? I'm in uncharted
waters here for me.... Any ideas?

Roger
