I would still like to verify that I have understood the versioning correctly.
I can't tell you what MeeGo is packaging as I'm only watching that project right now, I'll leave that to others.
Interesting side note, where Mozilla has put 4.0b6 and 4.0b7? Or have they decided not to release those at all? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/ has only up to 4.0b5.
We at Mozilla usually have the development versions be called e.g. "4.0b6pre" when they're post-4.0b5 but before ("pre") a potential 4.0b6 - and once we cut the 4.0b6 builds from that code, even when they might not be publicly released but only in QA (you'll find them in a 4.0b6-candidates directory at that time), we bump the development versions to 4.0b7pre, just to make clear that what get into that code will not make 4.0b6 any more. (That doesn't even mean that there has to be a 4.0b7 following, it could go directly to a release candidate, it's just the smallest version bump possible.) Once QA and other release preparations are done for the candidate builds of 4.0b6 (and find it good), we're releasing that one to the public. Still, from all I'm seeing, we're right now only at 4.0b6pre in the official Mozilla repos, no idea where MeeGo might get higher numbers from.
