Hi there,

The target of this DE exercise is to realize the 3 use cases on N900, with the
strong emphasis on the usability [1].

There are many things we should do, but this DE activity would place the
priority on the usability issues, we'd focus ourselves on the target we set.
For those of you who tried to use the MeeGo@N900 as the primary device
understand the rationale behind this target.

As of now, Fennec is the browser for the handset. Vesku, Stefan and Janne are
already having e.g. the fennec-qt discussions on the meego-handset ML. The guys
are in the process of conducting the performance profiling [2]. We should unite
and reduce the waste, I agree.

That said, let's not rule out other options in this DE context. Intel is open
sourcing the tablet UI very soon [3]. There was another interesting option that
was brought up by one of the community members [4]. The question is "On N900,
what browser provides the best usability?" Many people want the MeeGo@N900 to
reach the level that we can actually use. You're welcome to join the DE Browser
meeting on Fridays.

Another thing to note is, as Stskeeps puts it, "Our situation is pretty similar
to anyone who wants to make a MeeGo product (different schedules than
MeeGo.com)". DE will have the package overlay on top MeeGo 1.2.

My previous comments are applicable here, too. See the Dialer work from
alterego [5].

Whatever the technology choice would be, this activity will stay open and yes,
you'll find the relevant information on the public wiki [1].
