This bill was introduced during the 1997-98 legislative session by Firestone. It passed the Assembly on 5/29/97, the Senate on 9/4/97 and was signed by the Governor on 10/3/97. The bill was chaptered as 644 and amended Section 2106 of the Streets and Highways Code for the Bicycle Lane Account. As a city of 57,000 people in southern california I am wondering what happened to our share of these monies. I am the Finance Director for the City of Santee and I don't see that we have received any of these Bicycle monies. It looks like the City should have been receiving $400 per month plus a pro-rata share of any amount over the base amount allocated to the County. Can you tell me if the State has been distributing this money? Has the County of San Diego been getting this money and has there been excess amounts that should be distributed to cities? Is the State supposed to be allocating the $400 per month directly to cities? If I need to be asking someone else, please steer me in the right direction.
