Yesterday I posted a message indicating that federal funds for summer youth programs needed your support. I gather many of you were unable to retrieve or read attachment, so here it is in the message. Thanks for your continued interest and support. LEAGUE ALERT ON SUMMER YOUTH FUNDING Cities are urged to contact California Senators Feinstein and Boxer to urge them to support and press for the inclusion of $500 million in the FY 2000 Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill to cover the shortfall in funds for summer youth jobs. Without this additional funding, the same number of youth that were hired last year will not receive jobs this year. The bill is expected to be marked up this week by the Senate Appropriations Committee. Cities should also contact Secretary of Labor Alexis Herman and the White House to urge them to support the inclusion of this funding.
