There are two finance related issues that need a response from your city. Both have sample letters posted on the League website www.cacities.org under What's New. The first is for all cities that are in the PERS health benefit system PEHMCA. The PERS board did not accept staff recommendation that copays for HMO's of Self-funded plans be increased. Consequently, benefit costs will go up. The League board directed the Executive Director to write a letter to PERS expressing the concern over rising costs due to its lack of action. PERS has responded and asked Public Agencies to attend its next meeting on August 22. TAke some time to review the background information on the website if this pertains to you. The second is on the Transportation dollars that are included in the state budget for local streets and roads. There seems to be a delay in distributing the funds from the Controllers' office. There is a sample letter to the controller for your use on the website.
