Chris,
It sounds like the full face of the pad doesn't contact the disc which is
not really all that desirable. Is it like that both sides.
All of the pad should just contact the disc face; on my R31s on the outside
of the disc there is a 2mm non pad contact area and on the inner side around
12-14mm (only visual guess). It probably wont detract from brake performance
but the pads may wear a bit quicker as I would think the edge will break
away? It sounds like the rotor is not a genuine item and must be just a bit
smaller than it should be. I've never seen this problem so I can't even
suggest a fix.
I don't think you've done anything wrong with the bracket to cause this
problem. Just one thing that is unrelated to you problem and that is
carefully check that the bracket is absolutely square on the hub, no grease
and dirt etc on the hub face.

Subject: R31 rear disc conversion
Half way through my r31 rear disc conversion, theres a bit of buggering
around making the brackets to fit but I finally got them on.
They fit fine but I'm concerned about where the pad sits on the disc as they
extend past the out side edge of the disc about 1mm. I have some old pads
which came with the calipers which are worn down with the last 1mm on the
outside edge untouched which makes me think this is how they sit on a
factory application... Is this right. How do other people setup look.???
