It's definitely best practice to start off with new pads on any conversion
and you shouldn't have to modify the mount. To fit new pads on the PBR
calliper you have to remove the hand brake assembly and the piston. The
adjuster goes up the guts of the piston so you just wind it all the way back
and re-fit the handbrake assembly and the return spring. When you put the
piston back in the bore make sure the slot on the piston face goes back in
exactly the same position. The R31 brakes are definitely not designed for
fast pad changes. Once you've got the calliper all back together again,
don't be tempted to play with the hand brake lever as that pushes the piston
back in and you've got to go through the whole process again to get the pads
back far enough for the disc to fit between them.

Subject: Re: R31 rear disc conversion
yeah I had a look today...
The discs are new and 260mm. The pad looks a bit dodgy and worn down...I
think it was because the pad was nearly at the end of its life and had
pushed a little bit of material out past the edge...I will buy some new pads
and check them out...hopefully they will be better...(fingers crossed). I
can always modifiy the mount..but dont really want to....
I'll sort it out....;)
Chris.
