The S12 struts probably have a couple of degrees of positive camber on a 510
without modifications. I've never looked at S13 ones so I've no idea what
they are like. The S12 is the early to mid 80's Silvia/Gazelle. The S12
struts look very similar to 280ZX ones at first glance. The S12 springs will
rub the inside of the tower so they need changing and the locator ring at
the bottom is a dfferent size but I was just going to get the top of my
balljoint spacers machined to suit. I was hoping I could get enough neg
camber without modifying lower arms but not so. All I really need to do is
knock up some adjustable bottom arms and convert to 56mm ID springs and I'm
in buisness.
The disks on the S12 struts here are 10.75 inch diameter... not sure how
thick though. They are fairly heavy although I would say they are lighter
than 280ZX ones. The only other issue with using the S12 ones is the hub
face is offset outward much further so you'll need somw FWD offset rims. Not
a prob as most modern mags are like this now anyway.
Sadly we never got the R31 (or R30) here. I've only ever seen one R31 ever.
I can lay my hands on an R30 GT Turbo for about £400 at the moment but
probably not worth it just for brake parts.
The advantage of the S12 struts over 910 would probably be the overall
length being shorter. 910's here all have vented disks which haul them up
pretty good so I don't doubt the brakes on them at all. The 910 ones will be
the correct angle for camber though whereas the S12 aren't.
