I'm not clued up with the wheel studs, but I NSW Wheel spacers as illegal.
Welding them to the wheel makes them legal, as they become part of the
wheel.
If you do get welding done you could get the stud holes machined out to
allow the standard studs to be used. Any place that does wheel alloy wheel
repairs will be able to do this or put you on to someone that can.
Although this law may be different in VIC... there are probably some sound
engineering reasons why the RTA in NSW requires them to be welded to the
wheel.
regards,
Jeremy.

Subject: old question?
Hi all, I'm a newbie to this list, I'm playing with a 73 datsun 180B SSS at
the moment and have struck a problem.
I've got a set of 15 X 6 S13 Silvia/180SX rims that I'd like to fit to the
car, It looks as though I'm going to need at least 3/8 to 1/2" spacers, with
this, I'll need longer wheel studs, are any available off the shelf from
other vehicles? perhaps 1/2 longer than standard, any thoughts or assistance
greatly appreciated.
Also I'm contemplating the R31 rear disc upgrade, will that effect the rear
track? either in or out?
BTW I'm in Melbourne, Thanks and regards Eddie
