Wilwood make brake kits that are designed for a variety of uses; eg the
medium duty front kit is designed to be used for up to 2800lbs with either
rear disc or drum etc. They also have road kits, mainly for late model
Honduhs etc R32,R33 upgrades (they're words) so I guess they regard their
product to be superior to the Nismo product. I know that motor cycle
wilwoods are street legal as many a Ducati 996 has them but it is news to me
about them not being street legal for cars. I can't imagine why? Maybe too
good and cause too many nose to tails on the Westgate? It doesn't seem
logical to me, like they're not going to fall to bits on the street are
they.
They have been used on race cars in Aus for many years and I haven't heard
of problems other than the expense of decent brake pads and available range.
I have driven many race vehicles fitted with Wilwood brakes from open
wheelers to sedans and have never observed any deficiencies or mechanical
failures.

I was just after some of your opinions about the Wilwood rotors
and calipers. I have been getting conflicting information about them
and their ability to be used on track race cars.
(nb. I have been told it's actually illegal to use in a road registered
car)
It seems that the wilwood stuff is made for speedway use.. and
some think that they are just not up to the task of road/track racing.
Other people who use them say it is easily up to the task...
Some of the brake places I have spoken to say the Wilwood Dynalite's
calipers are better than R32 Nissan 4 Spots... other say the nissan's
are heaps better....
Has anybody here used any of the Wilwood stuff? (Disks and or calipers)
Anybody got any opinions on them for me?
