Justin,
I certainly havent spent anywhere near $8000 on mine but ive done all the work and fabrication myself. The L20 motor i got for nothing and i just freshened it up.Balanced the crank, rods and pistons.Fitted new rod bolts and flywheel bolts and a 280z flywheel and redrilled it to suit a 240mm 3100lb clutch. It only has acl pistons with moly rings. An a87 head was ported with 44mm inlet valves, new guides, seats and 110lb springs and thicker lash pads to suit the turbo cam.A bit of deshrouding was done in the combustion chambers. The whole thing was carefully checked and assembled.Basically a stock bottom end.About $1000.plus $400 for the clutch. The turbo was a t3 from my fj20 which i bolted to a home made manifold.I fitted a carbon seal backing plate and bolted on a cd175 that was sitting in the shed, modified the s2 dizzy, fitted a carter pump and a 3" exhaust.I drove it for about a year like this then i modified the turbo fitting t4 compressor and backing plate with a v trim wheel and back cut the turbine wheel and fitted twin cd175's that i picked up for $15.I also use a high pressure water injection setup that goes in after the turbo. On the dyno i was running about 21psi but i sometimes run it as high as 30psi.This motor has done over 50000 miles and has never had under 15psi put into it.I reckon the whole setup, motor, clutch, turbo, fueling, exhaust and water probably owes me around $3000.    Yahoo! Theres some photos of the motor there in the qikdats album click on show all.

        Andrew,
Thats interesting, a mate of mine has a cortina with a late model 6
cyl ford motor standard, but running a turbo, Thommo knows who it is. This
beast has around the 210KW not sure if its FW or ATW,  from memory and is
pulling 12.5's.  I'm doing a sr20det 1600 with minor mods such as IC,
exhaust and air intake, and he reckons we'd be pretty close!! Hope so.

What turbs and what boost you get the 228rwhp, very impressed!!!!
How much the donk worth?? The bloke I talked to with the T3 estimated 8K.
