drain your tank from the bolt at the bottom (if its a 1600 tank) then just take your sender out... no need to take the tank out otherwise. your sender could be dicked, or broken. mine used to fall to half in a day then sit there for a few days then drop to empty. ended up being the metal wire (as such) had some carbon or something over the middle section of the wire so there was no contact.
