hi, you would not  get  any reading at all, unless u can turn it over fairly quick.  when u turn a engine over by hand,  you have leak down, this you dont really want when u  want to test  a engine like u stated, . but there are  certain tests that DO  require a leakdown test.

Subject: compression check

Hi list,

Just wondering how accurate it would be
checking the compression of a motor
by turning it over by hand? with a screw in compression tester. rather than with the starter motor?
just to check if they are all the same?

thanks
Heath
