A friend is restoring a 260Z at present. His had very slight rust in the
lower door skins, sills. lower tailgate, and a strange place - in the middle
of the top of both the front guards. Despite rust in all these places, it
was only minor rust, not through the panels other than the top of the front
guards which had developed paint bubbles.- He is being very fussy about his
resto and has spent $3000 to remove all the rust..

I have seen some Zeds with bad rust around the fuel filler and the rear
guards. The rest of the car is usually not a problem. Check for any repairs
to the bonnet/grill area.

I am in favour of buying an auto and converting it to manual, as autos will
generally have been less abused mechanically.

For your interest, my friend paid $4400 for his with 12 months reg and RWC
and I thought it was a bargain - apart from the colour (bronze). Its
totally original, and its interior was in mint condition. Oh, it had broken
the spot welds on the lower bracket holding the LH tailgate strut support.
This had been crudely repaired by bolting it back through the drain channel.
