andrew,

thanks for the response.

i'm talking about aux venturies and as far as my research tells - 38mm is fine.

regrading the pinging:- i also discovered a water leak where the weber manifold is bolted to the head. so i pulled the head off and had the water jackets blocked off (welded) and had both the manifold and head faces machined. i recalculated the comp ratio - bad news - it was 11.0:1. i am aware that some people are running very high compressions, however in my situation i couldn't due to various reasons & i don't really want to be fiddling with the car all the time (daily transport). so the machine shop removed 5cc from the combustion chambers. this now gives me 10.2:1 (583.5 cc swept vol, 46.8 cc head, 10.5 cc pistons, 6 cc gasket).

i plan to assemble it this arvo after work and then rejet the carbies on friday. i'm thinking 55f9 idles, 150 mains and 180 airs. see how it goes. i hope to achieve 35 or 36 deg total timing advance and enjoy the car without pulling apart all the time. but - it only takes 20-30 mins to remove the head now !!!!

i'll keep you posted & i'm hoping to give a good workout at the datnet run drags next weekend.

dunc.
