Hi Zac,

I currently have Recaros and Klippan Retractable seat belts (w/ drop link) and have no clearance issues mounted at all factory points.

I owned a Datto 1600 with Bluebird seats, that had retractables that fouled badly when the seat was moved back (to suit my 6”3’ height).I sold the car before I personally fixed it. The seats were really too wide for the car if retractables were used, and reaching the back adjuster knob was a pain cause of tight clearances too.

Regards,

Jeremy

Ps.The Recaros fit beautifully, I bought them second hand, 6 years ago, and have had them in three cars since, don’t think I could go back to anything else J

Subject: retractable belts in 1600

I know a few of you have done this - but how did you install the retractable bit at the base of the b-pillar with enough room to move the seat back a bit? especially if you have non-factory seats like I do.

I had a look under the carpet with the idea of adding a new mount but the metal is kind of thin - could one weld a thick plate, thread it and would it be strong enough?

cheers,

zac
