You dont see ball joints and tie rod ends on F1 cars, they all run rose joints on every point. I think you'll find the ones you were looking at were very low load rating ones ment for tieing your patio shade cover up or something rather than suspension use. The "proper" rose joints for automotive use are expensive, i dont know exact prices, but each joint can run into $300-400. As far as i am aware rose joint are illegal on the road mainly because they have never been ADR approved, and no company is going to waste the money to get their's ADR approved. It not so much that they are not safe or that they are much harder riding, but it is that they are not ADR approved and hence the legal costs could be huge!
