I have had trouble with this type of deal before (with non-Datto engine though)

Owner says: Yeah, Yeah, good engine, just can't afford to replace the head gasket at 
the moment.

I find out (later): Cracked and warped head, severe bore wear. Cost me a bomb to put 
right.

Given that Bluebirds are so common you should be able to get a good running engine 
with no problems for that price.

I would always want to test drive the motor before I buy it.

I am probably too cautious but that is my $0.02
