I ground the flattened bit and then used a breaker bar. Should be heaps
easier with the rattle gun..

Terry,

Just a quick question, is there a trick to removing the nut on the axle?
Mine seems to look as tho the nut has been clamped(?) onto the bolt after
tightening. I've had a rattler on it and it won't budge, maybe grind it
back? Screwdriver and hammer or cold chisel?

cheers,
Adam

    Hi All,
I`m about to fit R31 rear disks to my 1600, i have various bits
from the wreckers but not sure what i need to reconnect the handbrake. I
also have the original calliper brackets.  My questions are;
1, What parts do i need to connect the handbrake?
[Terry Rudd] Both rear cables which you'll have to modify i.e. shorten or
get the made up ones from Sydney refer Iggy's post. The rear cables on the
R31 are not designed real well and get dirt and water etc into them so they
are in demand at wreckers, if you get them from a Upull, make sure they
aren't frozen - the angle of the calliper sits on a 1600 much better (higher
towards 12 o'clock high) and doesn't get the water/muck problem.

2, I`m assuming i need to cut a section out of the bracket(as seen in
photo`s), is this correct?
[Terry Rudd] No, don't do it. Take a bit longer and grind/sculpture the lip
off so the bracket fits over the A arm flush with the hub and ream out the
centre hole in the brackets until it fits over the flange (it's 2 or 3 mm).
Remove the axles (pain I know) but I cringe every time I see the Craig way
on this one.

3, Do i need different flex hoses?
[Terry Rudd] No, R31 flexi hoses are perfect to connect to the 1600 existing
solid lines (straight screw in as same fitting as the 1600 rw cyls)

4, And where can i buy the stub axel nuts from and how much would they be?
[Terry Rudd] Nissan genuine part only, refer Iggy's post again for part
number etc.

    Much appreicated,

                        Kris.
