Craig,
I haven't done it but I think you may be able to fit the 260Z gears and
countershaft into the box leaving the stock 5th and output shaft.
They would have to be replaced as a set, as the countershaft gears (apart
from the input gear) are all machined on a one-piece forging.
You can also change the input gearset ratio from 22 drives 31 to 21 drives
32. This will widen all the first three gears and shorten 5th gear.
