Thanks everyone, after charging the battery (damn thing was almost brand new) i got
the engine to crank over, and with some fiddling with the timing it now idles and revs
great! That single 45 weber sucks like nothing else! love the sound!
Now all that is left to do is wire up the alternator properly so i don't have to run
the car off jumper leads :)
If anyone can give me any hints as to whether what i have connected to the alternator
is correct, or any ideas what else needs to hook up and where then feel free to let
me know!
so far:
 - D+ on the alternator is connected to the positive terminal on the starter solenoid.
 - The screw on the back of the alternator is connected to earth.

There is also D- written on the back, but i can't see anywhere to hook up a wire, and
i also don't know what is meant to connect there :)

I'm not even sure that what is connected now is correct, so any help would be great!

Cheers,
Mark.
