cam specs are: @0.050" cam lift inlet opens 4 deg btdc, closes 43deg abdc exh opens 45 deg bbdc, closes 2deg atdc SAE valve timing inlet opens 38 deg btdc, closes 78deg abdc exh opens 78 deg bbdc, closes 38deg atdc   0.488" valve lift, using 1.65:1 ratio roller rockers   in this case , the engine should not peak power at 4000 Wayne,   I'm pretty much done on ideas about this one, as was said it should go well with bits in it. If it's always been that way I'd look for something not installed correctly when it was built. Brad mentioned timing gear - the composite types certainly are prone to stripping or jumping teeth. The dizzy position in relation to another similar engine is a tell tail sign.
