try and get one of those mechanical type temp gauge, then  slide it in the top hose, then tighten the hose clamp up, (  might have to use a little silicon to help seal.) and get a temp  reading, then  slide it in the bottom  and see what temp ya getting there.

this might help to sort something out?...

yer i got a thermostat in there, 165 degrees farinheight, so thats about 63 degrees Celcius. and yer i'd assume that mine is sitting about there aswell.  THe guages in the car are useless when its warm, taking the cap off doesnt have too much pressure and the water is nice and warm to the finger but certainly not boiling, so i don think thats where my problem is

Ive just got a std 1600 rad, that i had stripped and cleaned and checked just earlier this week.  The radiator is doing its job well.

Im going to hook up a guage with numbers on it so that i can see exactly whats going on with the temp, rather than the Cold------------Hot std style

Thanks

G'day all

My L20b 2.4L stroker is starting to be a real pain now, she's running too warm or something coz while she doesnt ping except under silly loads (ie up hill, 4th gear 1500rpm), but she wants to run on after turning it off and it doesnt seem like ive got full power out of it
